Essay - Pen Mightier than Sword

Pen is Mightier Than Sword

The pen is mightier than the sword. The contribution of the pen towards human progress and peace are greater and more lasting. Great conquerors have been guilty of shedding blood and causing misery. Their conquest have not led to any lasting results. If any benefit any results have ever followed wars, they have been achieved at a very cost. The misery thus caused far out-weighted the advantages. the sword, in fact, kills men, spreads bitterness and perpetuates evil.
The pen, on the other hand, is the healer of wounds. It soothes the most sorely troubled hearts. It applies the healing balm to the wounds inflicted by the sword.
Then pen spreads knowledge among mankind. It is the most useful instrument of propagating truth and religion. It binds the different nations of the of the world into one brotherhood. The sword separates and engenders fear.
The pen unites and produces love and fellw-feeling. Even when the pen inflicts wounds, it proves more powerful then the sword. It cuts deep. The sword takes life away life, but the pen may hold man to the contemp of generations.
The satires, the verdicts of historians and the criticisms of great writers last longer than the wounds of the sword. The Government of the sword is based on fear and cannot last along but that of the pen rests on peace and good will.
The pen conquers the heart and its conquests are more lasting. The pen of Aristotle and that of Plato still rule the world, while the empires of Alexander and Timur have long since passed away.
